LILACS Methodology: FI-Admin System Procedures Manual

Updated on 05/24/2025

FI-Admin (Information Sources Administration System) is a platform developed by BIREME/PAHO/WHO for the online and integrated management of BVS information sources.

In the context of information sources managed with the LILACS Methodology, this manual is intended to guide professionals involved in the management and updating of bibliographic reference databases, with a focus on the processing and curation of scientific and technical health literature, including:

  • Curation for compliance with LILACS criteria and selection of the appropriate document type;

  • Bibliographic description and subject indexing of health-related documents;

  • Registration and review of documents participating in the LILACS-Express initiative; and

  • Data quality control.

The data fields and their completion are guided by the Bibliographic Description Manual of the LILACS Methodology.

Discontinuation of development and support for legacy systems:

FI-Admin replaces the previous systems used to manage these information sources, which have been discontinued and must be decommissioned at institutions. These include: LILDBI-Web or earlier versions, LIS, DirEve, LILACS-Express Editor, SeCS/TITLE database of Scientific Journals in Health Sciences, LeisRef, and OER.
