Some fields are filled in with the support of databases and controlled tables.

The Series and ISSN fields for the Journals (Serials) document type are controlled; however, they allow manual entry if the value is not found in the SeCS database or if it is different from or inconsistent with the suggested data.

The Descriptors field, present in all document types, is controlled through the use of the DeCS thesaurus and does not allow manual editing.

Other fields will be controlled through FI-Admin tables, such as Publication Type, Pre-coded Descriptor, Country of Publication, Text Language, License, Clinical Trial Registry Database, and Type of Relationship
